Rumored to have been a model home for a 1950s waterside development in Tiburon, this low-slung midcentury house has generous proportions, a glazed rear façade and sweeping Bay views. Its European owners, longtime admirers of midcentury design, were drawn to its character, though some of the original interior details seemed curiously at odds with the architecture.
An incomplete set of drawings by architectural designer Jack Finnegan revealed a more refined original vision: tall doors with plywood transoms, carefully aligned windows, a Roman-brick fireplace and central ridge skylight. Framestudio used the drawings as a guide, restoring missing elements while reorganizing the kitchen, bathrooms and service spaces for contemporary family life. The result gives form to Finnegan’s original intentions while quietly accommodating contemporary life.
